For those who know me and my company Global Electronic Technology, Inc. (GET): This entry will not seem out of the norm, yet there are still others who may question my sincerity and confuse my actions with self-promotion. (This group truly doesn’t know me.)

A week ago, the island country of Haiti experienced a 7.0 magnitude earthquake. For a country unaccustomed to construction with steel rebar, it was a cataclysmic event and surely a catastrophe of unbelievable proportion.  The destruction and absolute breakdown of an entire country hasn’t been seen sans a military revolution in my lifetime.

Unemployment Rate

The unemployment rate is on my mind.

As we are all aware, the U.S. economy has surpassed the 10.2 percent jobless rate for the first time since 1983.  However, the numerical significance means little to me; instead, I am more intensely aware of and struck by the differences between the quality of people who interview for employment today and the quality of people who interviewed back then.

Customer Service

Customer Service is on my mind.

Having just returned from yet another trip to Europe, it was painfully obvious that the United States of America has fallen behind many countries in the area of client support, ranging from airline travel to simple customer support functions. Before any of my colleagues start calling and emailing me, call your own Customer Service centers as a customer and then fire away the comments; I make it a habit to call mine often. As for those tempted to bark anti-American slogans, please know that my family has four generations of paratroopers, including myself. I love my country and to witness its slide is disheartening to say the least.

New Changes

I am happy to report that our efforts to increase approval rates have been a success. As a result, we have decided to invite our Independent Sales Organizations (ISOs) to submit their high-risk files to Global Electronic Technology, Inc. (GET) as well. In the past, we required that an ISO submit all of their files in order to balance our Bank ID Numbers (BIN); however, today, we can self-balance and this is no longer a hard-and-fast rule.

Today, Global Electronic Technology, Inc. (GET) has launched a new online look and feel.  I hope that you will find it easier to navigate as well as being informational.   Further, we have taken steps to increase our approval rates and turn-around time.  We had pulled back, slowed down, and entrenched slightly in response to the number of business failures that we have all witnessed.  This year, we took unheard of steps to cancel long-term merchants who had declining balance sheets and mounting losses.  I am known to evaluate risk and reward with some degree of accuracy.  I think that it has something to do with the small amount of Cherokee in my bloodline.  Hence, we dodged the bullets that unfortunately struck so many.
